Film by Christy Turlington Burns opens in London

Model Christy Turlington Burns' first foray into documentary filmmaking is to be shown Saturday at the London Film Festival.
The film "No Woman No Cry" deals with the dangers pregnant women face in several different countries as they try to get medical care. The model, who is married to actor Ed Burns, has focused on public health issues since cutting back on her modeling appearances.
The film was inspired by the model's own difficulties while giving birth and her travels in the developing world with an international aid organization, she told The Associated Press Friday.
"I experienced a complication when I delivered my daughter seven years ago and that sort of opened up the world of maternal mortality," she said, describing how she went through a postpartum hemorrhage. "I learned that hundreds of thousands of women were dying each year, almost all of them were preventable."
Festival officials said the film will be introduced by Sarah Brown, wife of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and will be followed by a panel discussion.
