MTV Europe Music Award 2010: Oops! Lady Gaga does it again

MTV Europe Music Award 2010: Oops! Lady Gaga does it again

ALTHOUGH, the MTV Europe Music Award was originally started as a substitute to the American MTV Video Music Awards.

It has become a very popular major event with credibility. Awards were chosen by MTV viewers all over Europe and hosted in different cities throughout Europe. The 17th celebration of the best in music was held at the La Caja Magica, in Madrid, Spain, on Sunday, 7th November, 2010 and hosted by actress Eva Longoria Parker of ‘Desperate Housewives’ alongside Evan Rachel Wood and Johnny Knoxville and digitally hosted by Justine Bieber.
During the show, Eva changed into 10 different outfits, one of which was a ham costume as part of an ‘ode’ to lady Gaga. While on stage, dressed as a ham, Eva poked fun at Gaga’s infamous meat dress that she wore to the American MTV Awards in September and told the audience; ‘Lady Gaga couldn’t be here tonight but she has left this dress backstage.

Who knew Spanish ham was one of my colours?’ Although, it was fun and no malice intended Gaga didn’t find it funny and was less than impress and said Eva should find her own gimmicks. This year’s event had a fun mixture of mind-blowing performances, award winners and a parade of legs on the purple carpet. One performer that stole the show was Rihanna with her performance of the upbeat track “Only Girl (in the world)”. Though, she won nothing, she had a lot to celebrate as her new single “Only Girl (in the world) hit No.1 in the UK charts, knocking off Cheryl Cole’s “promise”.
As usual Lady Gaga won most of the awards and her eccentric presence was missed. However, she said her thanks via a video link from Budapest where she was performing. Her wins were, Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song. Justin Bieber followed closely with 2 wins for Best Male and Best Push Artist. Other winners were Ke$ha for Best New Act, Paramore for Best Alternative, Bon Jovi for MTV EMA Global Icon,

Thirty Seconds To Mars for Best Rock, Katy Perry for Best Video, Eminem for Best Hip Hop, Shakira for Free Your Mind, Linkin Park  for Best Live, Marco Mengoni for Best European Act and Tokio Hotel for World Stage. The Girls on the purple carpet also dazzled in short (really short) dresses.
Although some of them cannot be classified as dresses. All in all, it was a beautiful and entertaining event.
