Suicide bombers attack Shah Ghazi’s Shrine; 5 dead



KARACHI: Five people have been killed and over 60 others injured in twin suicide bomb blasts at the entrance of Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine in Clifton, DIG South Iqbal Mehmood and hospital sources said here Thursday.

Two heads, believed to be of the bombers, have been recovered from the blasts site where severed limbs and human flesh littered the ground, sources said.

The twin blasts occurred within minutes of each other at the shrine’s gate, sources said.

Head of Emergency, Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Dr. Seemi Jamali put the number of injured at 60.

A large number of poor and deserving people as well as others gather at Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine everyday and the number grows manifold, particularly, on Thursday. 

The incident has occurred on a day when President Asif Ali Zardari is in the metropolis. The shine is located not far from Bilawal House, residence of President Asif Ali Zardari in the city.

Rangers and heavy contingents of police have arrived at the blasts site where rescue activities are being carried out by emergency services.

Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza also arrived at the scene immediately after the blasts.
