Justin Bieber causes mall mayhem during Boxing Day shopping spree

Justin Bieber causes mall mayhem during Boxing Day shopping spree
Justin Bieber reportedly caused some major mayhem in a Canadian mall on Boxing Day when he decided to do a little holiday shopping.

Blame Canada for the latest bout of Bieber-mania.

Hordes of teenage girls shopping at the Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener, Ontario, got much more than they bargained for when Justin Bieber showed up to check out sales on the Canadian holiday Boxing Day, Canada's The Record reported.

The Ontario-born star, who garners $300,000 for each performance according to Forbes, apparently couldn't resist the lure of rock-bottom prices - and the girls couldn't resist the chance to catch a glimpse of the 16-year-old heartthrob.

Mayhem ensued as Bieber entered a jeans store and then a sunglasses shop. Hundreds of female fans reportedly crowded around the pop star as he attempted to try on new frames.

"There were a lot of vases being broken and people climbing over other people and a lot of screaming," Bieber fan Taylor Inder told the newspaper.

And the "chaos" apparently required police intervention.

"I was concerned because there were hundreds of girls out there and three police officers at my glass doors, and I'm like, 'I don't think this is a good mix,'" the store's manager, Sarah Pelletier, told the paper.

Pelletier said she even received a warning call from another mall employee before the "Baby" crooner arrived.

"I thought, 'My God, it's a 16-year-old boy who's shopping - what's the big deal here?'" she said.

Ultimately, though, Pelletier was good-natured about the star sighting.

"I'm glad he supports his local economy, and he said he keeps some of his money in Canada," she said.

Forever engaged with his Twitter following, Bieber later issued a brief tweet about his excursion.

"Of course I had to join in on Boxing Day," Bieber explained to his fans. "I'm Canadian."
