Now, Sanjay Dutt says he faced threat from producer

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Wednesday alleged that film producer Shakeel Noorani had threatened him while he was shooting for a film at Mumbai's Mehboob Studio in 2008.

Dutt faced a setback on Tuesday after two of his properties were placed under attachment by the Bombay High Court on a decree sought by Noorani to recover his dues from the actor. The actor has alleged that Noorani had hired goons to threaten and extort money from him in 2008.

Dutt's lawyer, Rizwan Merchant, said: ''Noorani had hired people from the underworld to call Dutt and threaten him and extort money. Dutt had then lodged a complaint with the crime branch. The investigation was handed over to Anti-Extortion Cell which had recorded statements of Dutt and Noorani.'' Noorani said Dutt's allegations were ''completely false''. Merchant said one of the properties — his office — placed under attachment was in the name of Dutt's wife, Manyata. He said Dutt would soon move the court with two petitions.
