Returning from the IIFA award ceremony in Toronto, actress Anushka Sharma was detained at the Mumbai International Airport for carrying unaccounted gold, diamond jewelry and other belongings. After over nine hours of questioning, Sharma was released from the airport.
Sharma was stopped at Customs while passing through the green channel when her possessions were found, which were reportedly worth over Rs 35 lakhs.
Custom officials are in the process of verifying the documents provided by Sharma claiming that her belongings were taken with her from India in the first place. The star insisted that while going abroad, she had taken the valuables from India and had declared the goods at that time.
