A bad knee fails to prevent Shahrukh Khan from rocking at IIFA awards

A bad knee fails to prevent Shahrukh Khan from rocking at IIFA awards

Entertaining the fans has always been a top priority of Shahrukh Khan and even a creaking knee wasn’t grave enough to prevent King Khan from scintillating on stage at IIFA 2011 awards in Toronto.

Shahrukh was nursing a bad knee when he arrived in Toronto and his plan to perform on stage at IIFA awards on the closing day of the three-day event looked all but scuttled.

“IIFA begins...nervous cos of my knee pain...hope I entertain the audience enuff...so much love...need to return the warmth,” Shahrukh Khan had tweeted before his performance.

However, the knee did not improve and on the awards night, Shahrukh chose to step on stage despite pain in his knee and he danced with abandon to a number of songs, even sharing the stage with the Band Baaja Baaraat duo Ranvir Singh and Anushka Sharma.

Even though choreographer Shiamak Davar had simplified the dance steps for Shahrukh, the superstar, in his zeal to lift up the evening, danced like there was no tomorrow, thereby only making his knee injury graver.

Says a source: “Shahrukh could not have let his knee problem dampen the IIFA spirit. He was overwhelmed by the love shown to him by his fans in Toronto, and he wanted to entertain them in return. Also, he was returning to IIFA stage after seven years. A rocking performance was surely due and Shahrukh gave it.”

Now, after that rocking performance, Shahrukh has decided to relax and rest and let his knee recover while holidaying in London.

“London summer...looking forward to some rest time for a few days. Get rid of tan...grow hair...get knee to stop creaking..and shop for toys,” Shahrukh wrote on twitter.
