Chan fraud yesterday in Hong Kong of senior television executive Stephen Chan

Chan fraud trial begins in HK

Trial began yesterday in Hong Kong of senior television executive Stephen Chan (陳志雲, pictured) and his personal assistant Edthancy Tseng (叢培崑), on charges of corruption, conspiracy and fraud.
The charges relate to alleged crimes committed against the pair's employer Television Broadcasts (TVB, 香港電視廣播有限公司), one involving defrauding TVB-managed talent of commission, another involving payments made by a shopping centre owner through a company controlled by Tseng. Wilson Chan Wing-shuen is also accused in the alleged commissions fraud. The three deny all the charges.
The case is expected to last 20 days and to fascinate the public, given former chat show host Chan's prominence and that of some of the witnesses. TVB's managing director Mona Fong (方逸華) is expected to appear as a prosecution witness. Admission to the court yesterday required a ticket.
