Long long before Suri Cruise, Violet Affleck and the Jolie Pitt kids were was being chased by the paparazzi all over the world there was a very notable child star who people could not get enough of – the one and only Shirley Temple. But there is one big difference, Shirley Temple was an actress herself not just a spawn of an actress.
Decades ago Shirley Temple fever was everywhere. There were Shirley Temple dolls, Shirley Temple dishes, Shirley Temple costumes, she was America’s sweetheart. Kids and adults alike adored her, she really was the first child super star. And her allure has staying power. My own five-year-old daughter loves her and begs to watch clips of her singing and dancing on YouTube, it’s still as charming as it was back in the day.
