Sabah tourism board has decided to promote ghost tourism in the region. Sabah is planning a cultural festival to promote ghost tourism and highlight other mythical creatures in the region.
The Ministry of Tourism is decided to go ahead with the idea because of the increasing popularity of ghost tourism around the world. Ministry of Tourism has acknowledge that ghost tourism today is as popular as medical tourism, gay tourism and other tourism form.


All major cities around the world are promoting their haunted places and the demand of ghost tours are increasing. Therefore Sabah tourism board has decided to promote some of their own paranormal places to woo tourists.


Sabah Tourism board sees the cultural festival as a ideal platform to highlight mythical creatures in Sabah to the tourists. Even with the popularity of vampires and Count Dracula, Sabah Tourism Board feels that their mythical creatures will be able to attract tourists.


Local mythical creatures like Balan-Balan, tompulalanggoi, kelindahau etc are less known which adds to the mystery surrounding these creatures that will attract tourists to Sabah.
