Fernando Torres is unsure about Chelsea’s manager situation but is happy in his recovery

The 27-year-old striker says that he hasn't heard anything about Chelsea's coaching search but is happy to be regaining his fitness and expects improvement next year.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Chelsea and Spain international striker admits that he isn’t sure about the managerial situation at his club but says he is happy that he is regaining his fitness and will have time to rest this summer.

“It has been a really difficult season for me. A lot of things happened over the past 12 months but I am looking forward to the last game of season over the next three days,” said Torres to Goal.com, referring to Spain's last game against Venezuela.

Even though Torres won the World Cup with Spain and became the most expensive player in Premier League history with a 50-million-pound transfer, many spectators questioned whether or not he would ever be able to regain the form that led to him being labeled as the best striker in the world.

He limped through Spain’s triumph in South Africa last summer and only scored one goal. However, in Torres’ appearance off the bench against the United States in a 4-0 victory against the host in New England on Saturday, he showed glimpses that he might be returning to form.

The athletic ability that Torres was renowned for during his early days at Liverpool was on display and he scored a powerful goal after receiving a pass from Borja Valero and charging past Steve Cherundolo.

Torres says that he is excited to finally have a break after five consecutive full seasons of no vacation. He mentioned that fans should see a different player then the one that struggled with injuries over the past few seasons.

“I finally get to go on break,” said Torres. “It’s been five summers with no holidays and we have a chance to enjoy with family and rest and I am sure next season will be a lot different from the last one.“

As for Chelsea’s manager situation, like the team’s fan, he is waiting to hear who the team will choose but he has been in constant contact with the team.

“No, I am in contact with them but no new news yet,” said Torres.
