'Shah Rukh nurtures young talent'
May 31, 2011, (Sawf News) - Did the Ra.One theatrical trailer released on Tuesday, May 31 live up to the hype about the film that Shah Rukh Khan is heavily invested in both financially and emotionally? Opinions appear to differ.
The 1m 39s theatrical trailer gives no insight to the film's plot beyond hyping the tag line - What if something that is meant to be played starts playing with your life. The focus of the trailer is entirely on action sequences and Shah Rukh Khan.
The trouble is, the action sequences fail to wow.
Going by comments posted on YouTube, the sequences lack originality, but opinion differs widely on which film served as inspiration for a particular scene – Iron Man, Spiderman or Robot?
Which leaves you wondering – Can action sequences in a superhero films produced so late in the game not remind you of something that you have seen in the past? But then, there was Krrish. Not many viewers thought its action was inspired from Hollywood films.
Something else very evident from the YouTube comments - many of them expletive laden - is: whether Ra.One gets praised or panned by critics, it will open well at the box office because of the large number of Shah Rukh Khan fans, some of them very passionate.
Interestingly, though Kareena Kapoor appears briefly in the trailer, Arjun Rampal doesn't make it into a single frame.
